YOO SOON LEE
Yoo Soon Lee received her first piano lesson at the age of three. From 1988 until 1990 she attended the piano class of Prof. Suk Kim in the “Yewon Art School” which is a one of the best renowned Conservatories of South Korea.
One year later she entered the preparatory classes for piano at the University of Music in Vienna. In October 1991 she finally began her study with Prof. Paul Badura-Skoda majoring piano performance and due to his retirement in 1995 she continued with Prof. Ludwig Hoffmann and received her first Diploma in 1996.
She also took regular lessons with Jörg Demus to achieve perfect performing results .
In 1998, Yoo Soon Lee resumed her studies with Prof. Oleg Maisenberg and finished with a Master’s Degree in piano performance in 2002.
Yoo Soon Lee also worked with Prof. Andrej Jasinski (Katowice, Poland) during her artistic studies in Vienna.
She attended master courses with Prof. Rudolf Kehrer, Prof. Peter Efler, Prof. Oxana Yablonskaya and Prof. Lev Naumov.
In October 2002 she continued her professional training with Prof. Pavel Gililov at the College of Music in Cologne and finished with the highest solo performing degree in October 2006.
Yoo Soon Lee is the winner of various national and international piano competitions as e.g. “Le Muse” (Salerno, Italy) and “Amadeus” (Tolmezzo, Italy). Furthermore she was selected by the Yehudi-Menuhin-Foundation in an audition in Vienna (Live Music Now) in 2000 and since then gave several concerts within this concert series.
Yoo Soon Lee was born in Korea and grew up in Vienna, a city which became her second home where she feels very close to the music and culture. She has performed many concerts for the audience of Vienna – e.g. the society of opera and musical theatre in Vienna, the international Chopin society in Vienna, the concert cycle in the Urania, the Döblinger Festival, the Steinway House in Vienna as well as the Bösendorfer Hall.
Outside Austria, she has received further excellent reputation at the international music festival Basilicata in Potenza (Italy), at the Amadeus Music Festival in Tolmezzo (Italy), at the Oxana Yablonskaya Festival in Puigcerda (Spain), at the international music festival in Montepulciano (Italy) and the Piano Festival Ruhr (Germany).
Yoo Soon Lee is performing as a soloist as well as a very dedicated chamber musician. She is a member of the Fanny Mendelssohn Trio (founded by Yoo Soon Lee and her sister Sunok Lee, violin). Additionally, she regularly performs with the Cologne clarinetist Nicolai Pfeffer.
Yoo Soon Lee performed in Germany, England, Italy, Korea, Austria, Poland, Sweden, Spain and the United States.
