JOSE MANUEL BANULS

JOSE MANUEL BAÑULS - SAXOPHONE Graduated in Majorca, Spain, he finished a MMus degree at Royal College of Music in London supported by a Dr Michael & Ruth West Award and the RCM Scolarship Fundation. He obtains in 2013 a PGCE (pedagogical degree) at the UMH. In 2014 he starts a Master in Neue Musik at the Hochschule für Musik ind Tanz in Köln. Jose has performed in venues such as Royal Opera House, Cadogan Hall, Royal Festival Hall, Queens Elisabeth Hall, Purcell Room, Southbank Centre and St Martin in the Fields in UK. Kulturkreis Arosa in Switzerland, Wiener Musikverein, UDK in Berlin, Auditori and CCCB in Barcelona, Auditorio Nacional Madrid, and others in Sweeden, France, Portugal, Denmark, Estonia, Argentina, Uruguay and Brazil. Jose has been invited to prestigious music festivals such as Young Euro Classic de Berlín, Festival Xenakis en Southbank Centre, the Huddersfield Contemporary Music Festival, Rising Stars in Cadogan Hall, NonClassic , Re:Sound Festival, Mallorca Saxophone Festival, en el Romanischer Sommer, Spitzentöne and Villa Zanders in Köln, Freunde Junger Musiker Düsseldorf & Frankfurt, IMPULS in Graz, 17th World Saxophone Congress in Strasbourg, Cambridge Summer Music Festival, 3 Choirs Music Festival in Canterbury, the Harpendem Music Festival and the London Jazz Festival. He has been successful in several competitions such as the Internacional Yamaha Chamber Music in Madrid 2010, the Jane Melber Competition RCM London 2011, UGDA Ville de Luxembourg in 2012, the Karlsruher Wettbewerb für die Interpretation Neue Musik 2014, Felix Mendelssohn Wettbewerb Berlín in 2014, the COOP Antonio Bertolini in Milan 2014 and the prestigious Royal Overseas League in UK. Jose has broaden his knowledge on saxophone repertoire with virtuosos Daniel Gauthier, Kyle Horch, Claude Delangle, Jean Marie Londeix, Lars Mlekusch and Arno Bornkamp. He has also been invited to teach at different universities such as CSMIB in Mallorca, RCM in London and the East Anglia University for a workshopping with the electronic music department. Jose has also collaborated with Junge Deutsche Philharmonie, RCM Philharmonic Orchestra, and the RCM London Film Orchestra performing the Michael’s Kamen saxophone concerto at the Amarillis Fleming Concert Hall. Jose is also experienced in conducting big bands, ensembles and orchestras. He has been the principal music director at the B&L Music Society and the Showtunes Orchestra London 2010-2013. His Music has been broadcast por RTVE, La2, Deutcschelandfunk, WDR, Deutschlandradio, Onda Cero, TV3, Radio Catalunya and Resonance FM. Jose collaborates with the SWR Experimental Studio and has recorded a CD with Fukio Ensemble at Traumtone Studios in Berlin. Jose is based in Cologne is finishing a Master degree in Neue Musik at the Hochschule fur Musik und Tanz with professor David Smeyers.
